Matus and the UBS economics team aren't afraid to make an out-of-consensus call that goes against the headlines. He was one of the first to assert that the effects of the sequester wouldn't be as bad as everyone was saying. He and his team also disputed the reason for Wal-Mart's "disaster" February sales figures, correctly identifying delayed tax refunds this year as the culprit before Wal-Mart itself came out and confirmed it. Matus says the most worrying thing in markets right now is the Federal Reserve's growing share of the bond market.
