Jan Hatzius is one of the most well-respected economists on the Street. He uses a sectoral balances framework in his approach to forecasting the U.S. economy, and he's made some great out-of-consensus calls in the past, including the downturn in 2007 and the slowdown in 2010. Hatzius has been optimistic that growth will pick up in the second half of 2013, but given the recent weakness in the data, he istempering expectations a bit.
